With Bill firmly entrenched in Gedding Hall, he has been taking time between projects and concerts to catch up on his work, as well as getting out for a spot of detecting. On Monday, August 18, Bill took it easy - watching the Olympics, working on projects, then heading out with Gismo (pictured) as the day bucked up to take a few photos.

Bill has also been told to cut down - or even completely cut out - smoking, which obviously delighted Bill no end. On Tuesday, he got a call from Sherry Daly to check up on how was doing trying to cut out the cigs - Bill reckons that he's now down to roughly ten per day, and isn't inhaling. Actually, this is a massive achievement considering the number of cigarettes Bill normally smokes.

On Wednesday, Bill was up early - 5:15am - and watch some of the Olympics coverage, before heading out in the morning to spend time metal detecting. Bill has a huge passion for detecting - you can see some of his work by clicking here - and he managed a few finds in Gedding and Rushbrooke on Wednesday. Bill says he found a medieval decorative mount, a horse harness ring, and 1844 Victorian sixpence, and an unusual copper item. Bill went back to Gedding Hall with his finds, cleaned them up, and added them to his growing database of finds.

Thursday was an equally successful detecting day, with Bill making some interesting finds including a silver medieval coin, a crotal bell, two buckles, a keyhole escutcheon, and three lead items. Bill also took a few photographs the old medieval village well.

With some time on his hands, and his continued battle against smoking, on Friday Bill pointed out several newspaper features - one from the Daily Express that reported Jo was visiting Ronnie Wood in rehab - and another from the East Anglian Daily Times that had a photo of Bill and a local drama group that had used Bill's Gedding hall for a backdrop.

Saturday and Sunday were spent working on up-coming projects, keeping an eager Gismo happy with some fresh air and exercise, and Bill sorting through some of his things and packing it up to send to Oxfam.
