Thursday 4th September 2008
August bank holiday - and no rest for Bill, who is still entrenched in Gedding with his head down working on projects. During the day, Bill caught up with some friends on the phone, until he took Gizmo (pictured) out for a walk at midnight, chasing off a large fox in the process.
Tuesday was a more personal day, with Bill arranging with his local vicar to place his mum's ashes with his dad's under a tree in the front park. Unsurprisingly, Bill was up early on Wednesday, August 27, and met up with his son Steven and Serena, as well as the vicar. The troupe headed to a Canadian Red Oak tree that Bill had planted together with his dad's ashes in 1990, where a short service was held.
On Thursday Terry Taylor chalked up his 60th birthday - congratulations! - though Terry phoned Bill to say he was unwell and had cancelled his holiday to Majorca. Bill invited him over to lunch on Sunday, then continued his pursuit of his creative projects for the rest of the day.
Bill was to follow a similar pattern for the next few days - getting up at the break of dawn, working through the morning on his projects, then getting in some sport - including the England & South Africa cricket match and European Super Cup football.
